Map Poem
Scorched skin and a body screaming for rest
the month of July
Heavy hearted and sunken eyes
There is no state of mind
Through the timeless, steamed days in the never-end
flying creatures buzz and fill the room
Close the door back to the world I once breathed in
Wind colored red on forgotten land
Carried me down to a fast flowing river
wading and swept away
The time before becomes the time that extends
All the time ties up it’s loose ends
‘Till I am the moon and the stars
I walk through the seasons
As the earth rotates
Spinning on its axis
We tumble down into the basement
Crawling through a space that is
dark and damp, cluttered
Cats curled up under the entrance of light
Permitted by windows that line the ceiling
Dust shimmys
Dust settles
Papers unsorted

July 26, 2021
No door to stop the outside from
Flooding in
It’s a golden day outside but the air has space
So we can play
It’s late August so we can go to the fair
Look at the dried paint on the walls
Roam through the barn
Now I’m driving for hours
Seeing the leaves change
Blessed that I made it up North
Where I can dress up for Halloween
Go on the computer, look at pictures
Running from the cold,
though there is a warmth you can’t ignore
Radiating off the paths of before
Hunker down in the hurricane
Walk through dilapidated stores
The walk goes through eons of love
Heart so full it shatters on the floor
Everyone rushes to pick up the broken pieces
Pushing through the thicket of weeds, thorns
I, you, We?
Come across a lake glistening
Blued by the sky
Clock face outlined by the infinite sun
Dancing in a busy street, where no one can hear the music
Times of unease, of ache
Of waiting for the streets to open
So we can leave
Kissing on a sidesteet
Having nightmares
Eating food that’s sickening
Believing I loved the moon
In the presence of something Godlike
Never felt that at the start, now I do
On top of the mountain with the sky so bright
The journey started in a cement room with no light
But through shifty skies and long walks through unknown territory
The room has vanished
I don’t remember that room, or that feeling
Of chaos
